Equipment

  • Microwave-safe mug (12–16 oz)
  • Small spoon or whisk
  • Measuring spoons
  • Fork for mixing

Ingredients

  • 35 g ¼ cup + 1½ tsp all-purpose flour
  • 25 g ≈ ⅛ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 g ¼ tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt to taste
  • 28 g 2 tbsp / ≈ ⅛ cup melted butter
  • 45 ml 3 tbsp / ≈ 3/16 cup milk
  • 2.5 ml ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 g 1 tsp colorful sprinkles

Instructions

  • Start by taking a microwave-safe mug and adding the flour, sugar, baking powder, and a small pinch of salt. Stir everything together really well so the dry ingredients are evenly mixed and there are no lumps.
  • Next, pour in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix slowly until the batter becomes smooth and you don’t see any dry flour left at the bottom of the mug.
  • Now add the sprinkles and gently fold them into the batter. Just a few stirs are enough so they spread evenly without losing their color.
  • Place the mug in the microwave and cook it for about 60 to 90 seconds. Keep an eye on it around 60 seconds; it should rise and look set but still soft in the center. Avoid overcooking or it will turn dry.
  • Finally, let it sit for about a minute to cool slightly. Then enjoy it straight from the mug while it’s warm, soft, and freshly made.

Notes

Note: Microwave times may vary depending on wattage; start with 1 minute and check for doneness. Use a larger mug to avoid overflow while cooking. Sprinkles can be optional or replaced with chocolate chips.
